This is Scooter.. 
.. This precious baby was going to be drowned by a breeder because he was born with deformed knee caps. They obviously were not feeding him.. hoping he would die on his own. He is only 9 weeks old. Poor baby. He deserves a chance. We think he is "SPECIAL" little man.. this boy will steal your heart!! Scooter's medical bills are rising daily. He has to be transported and then seen by a specialist and probably will need a custom wheelie chair... a small donation to help him along his way? He has a sweet.. gentle soul and CAN/WILL find a home and live the good life.. but someone has to pay for his care in the meantime...

.. I belong to a group of Cross Boarder Dog Rescuers.. Which I am so proud of as well in awe of.. They week after week help save dogs from terrible conditions.. beit kill pounds/raids/hurricane victims you name it.. and folks here in Canada step up as well to try to help these dogs.. Just one example that shows just how hard some folks try.. Here is a deaf Catahoula coming to Canada.. with God's Grace & allot of volunteers help..This is a typical one.. 
We are requesting assistance to transport INDY, a handsome and sweet DEAF altered male Catahoula, from foster care with Catahoula Rescue Inc in Fort Worth, TX to his well screened adoptive home in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, on Friday to Sunday, October 3rd to 5th, 2008. We are trying to add a second dog, MOMMA, a female Catahoula who needs to get from Texas to CRI foster care in Pennsylvania ... details to come if she can make it.
INDY must get to Little Rock AR on Friday, and to Columbus OH on Saturday, so he can meet up with a run coordinated by Lucy Moye that will bring him into Ontario.

.. Yes its a rescues delight when a pair of bassets are adopted.. as most bassets do well in pairs.. They afford each other the companionship as well tire each other out hence limiting any anxieties when left alone..
.. Their new owners were so well prepared when I delivered them I was amazed.. two new beds for them.. toys and pull ropes .. treats and a BIG bag of the food I recommended.. no gates to cordon them off.. a house where the infamous " Basset 500 " will run.. no competition for affection.. The new owners were waiting as I drove up the driveway arms open ready to receive their new friends..
.. Yes its a really good feeling when you know your doing the best humanly possible for your rescues.. well with a little " Universal " help..

.. Today again another S.O.B. back yard breeding mill was raided.. I hope they throw the book at these fools.. CJAD has been announcing this breaking story all day.. I wonder what the fallout will be on the rescue groups like me.. Its such a shame.. my heart is heavy with this story..

A horrific case of animal-abuse in the Lower-Laurentians. The SPCA raided a puppy mill on Kildaire in Rawdon this afternoon, rescuing dozens of dogs from hellish conditions. They were being kept in steel-cages stacked floor-to-ceiling with several animals in each cage. The dogs were terrified, covered in open sores, infested with parasites and starving. Many were dead. Rebecca Aldworth of Humane Societies International says it's one of the worst cases they've seen.
The conditions at this puppy mill were by far the worst we have ever encountered. Ammonia burned our eyes and noses. The dogs were living in tiny wire cages stacked on top of one another. They had little or no access to food or water. Some were in cages in closets. Others were confined with deceased companions. Ninety percent of the dogs we rescued were severely emaciated, and many needed immediate medical attention.
All of the animals are now in an emergency shelter, free from the squalid cages where they had been doomed to spend their lives.
109 live dogs, 7 cats and a rabbit were seized from the puppy-mill. The SPCA is now looking for foster homes to nurse them back to health. The SPCA's brought on extra people to handle the logistics.

Yes bassets are the most friendly dogs I've ever seen..
Hector, beloved Bassethound of Roger and Judy C., on September 17 2008, was gently helped from his pain at age 8 years.
Hector was a rescue dog from SPCA Monteregie who came into our life at age 1 ½ years old. Hector was a noble boy, and did a tv commercial on railway safety—donating his earned fee to the SPCA Monteregie who had taken him in, so they could help other dogs. Hector loved his comfort and took up our space on the sofa—keeping his eyes shut so he wouldn’t have to see us staring at him expectantly to move over for us. Hector was a very loving boy but was quite vocal if he didn’t want to do something, a real grump, he could doggy-swear very well! But eventually gave way. He loved his family, and liked nothing better than to be close to us, whether watching tv or going for his beloved walks—but never in the rain, he hated to get his feet wet! The highlight of Hector’s walks was to be fussed over by children and their parents, he loved his fan club, especially Dan.
Grudgingly tolerant of foster animals coming in and out of our home for Gerdy’s Rescues, Hector was always glad to bid them adieu as they were adopted. A master food thief, he specialized in snatching pizza, toast, and sandwiches in a split second off plates of distracted guests and us. His buddies Murphy and Josephine will miss him sharing our home. Was a buddy to our cats Frankie, Blossom, Joy, and Little Red. A loving cousin to cats Spike and Teddy. He was met and helped across The Rainbow Bridge by our dear Meg and Charlie. He will be ever remembered by Roger and Judy C and family
