Surprise Newbie Is Pregnant..
... Yes this little one was turned in after being shuffled 3 times.. she's needy.. Well hell she's pregnant... they get like that.. In any case this will be a tough foster placement I'm afraid.. its hard enough to get fosters.. let alone for a pregnant basset.. its quite a commitment.. Hopefully the Universe will come through for this girl.. Look at this face..

Too Needy..
.. This morning I received a call about an eight month old female basset.. It was from a volunteer who told me this little girl has been shuffled to 3 different homes in 4 weeks.. WHY.. well because she is too needy.. imagine that.. no stability in her young life and she is needy.. now how could this be.. I so wish people would do their homework before getting a basset.. it would be so worth it to all around.. They just don't understand that these little lives are as precious as any and if they are insecure there is a reason.. but some people can't look beyond their noses.. In any case I will drive the two hours to go get her and bring her back.. and hope that she will find some peace here.. I know Micky will be thrilled to have another girl in the place.. we mostly get the boys.. they don't earn their keep so to speak.. I'll post some more about this girl once I get her.. For now she'll have to wait a couple of more days..

Copper Has His Forever Home
... Well Copper has won the hearts of a family with another basset Gustave and I couldn't be happier.. Its always a goal of mine to have a buddy for any basset I adopt because they do much better that way.. after all dogs are pack animals.. and for bassets its most fun if out on a walk and they can do the flat basset in pairs..
Now for the Pet Fair.. It was quite interesting.. both Bruce and Copper were hits of the day.. They were escorted by two teens that fell in love with them and asked if they could hold them.. take them out to do their business.. it was nice to see such young interest in them.. these girls had fun.. and the boys were well behaved there..
Its odd the requests you get sometimes.. but as someone always willing to help a breed.. this lady asked if I ever see great danes in rescue.. I said yes I see them with dates on their heads PTS.. ( put to sleep ) so she although likes bassets also has a very soft spot for danes.. and expressed should I see one to pull it for her no questions asked she would give it a forever home.. Yep my kinda person..
Subsequently I've been working on rescuing those MO basset mixes and bassets and the 10 of them are safely at a vets in MO. for now until the transport tomorrow to Indy IN. There are allot of challenges in rescue that are never known.. One rescue close to here takes in special need dogs.. I had lunch with her today. She was telling me about a dog she got it had not been diagnosed properly so she ended up spending a small fortune on it.. this mixed boy only now to find out he must be transported to Utah.. imagine.. these are costs rescues dread but as no-kill shelters we must do whats necessary even if it means running our credit cards..
It was a nice lunch getting out for a bit alone was quite a change.. no one breathing down my neck..
Well its Easter weekend lets see what the cards will hold.. Stay tuned..
Oh yes I must tell you also of my disappointment in having to cancel our Charity Hockey Game.. Saint Lazare decided they would need to charge me $600.00 for ice time.. I would be lucky if I even raised that much at the game.. so its off.. and there is no reschedule as the CTV Sports Knights finish their season the 24th. of April..
