Puppies and Poop..

.. I sware I have never picked up so much soft serve in my life.. these gang are poop machines.. and have little regard to walking it over my shoes ectra.. So today I decided to give them baths.. haha was this experience a hoot.. everyone of them reacted differently .. one whined.. one was desperate to get out.. one just hugged the side of the booster bath.. one tried to crawl out.. but they all wanted to drink the soapy great smelling water .. I would finish one towel him/her dry and seek out another all the while watching out for land mines.. Its not easy walking among them I am very ginger when I do.. In any case they all got their bath.. then I sat on the floor with them on a warm blanket as they were damp.. shot the heat up.. they all crawled on me and napped.. I loved it..

Footnote: I loose so much time with this gang.. but who can resist puppies..

Puppies First Vet Appointment..

... Well today was the day I was awaiting.. to have these lovely pups looked at by the mobile vet.. She came in the kitchen and I released them from the computer room.. It was love.. she said " Oh look at them.. I love puppies" They were scoping out all her bags and odds and sods.. one even stole an empty needle wrapper.. haha.. Then it was on to business.. Okay how were we to tell them apart.. She decided to marker them 1-7 .. it was a hoot..

They all were examined and got clean bills of health except one of the boys has a scrotal hernia that needs surgery ASAP.. At 4 weeks though its tricky..

They six of them weighed in between 5 lbs 2 to 7 ounces.. the runt 4 lbs. 7 ounces.. but cute as a button.. They all are really.. The vet wanted to take one home.. but she already has 7 rescued dogs.. She loves animals I could tell while we spoke after she took care of the puppies we chatted.. I liked her and will definitely call on her again.. She has left an impression on me I don't usually get..

I mean really look at this gang..I'm so proud of Micky & Hoover acting like the best foster parents..





After all was said and done.. it was nap time..

.. I thank goodness my bassets are such easy going Spirits.. they take everyone under their wings.. I think thats why I never understand owners that claim that they couldn't introduce another basset into their household.. I mean last year 30+ dogs came through my place with no problems.. Mine are so happy to see any newbie.. I mean even the littlest ones as You see..











Yes I love my bassets for more reasons than I could write..

The Pups Today..

... Oh what can I say but what an adventure with these puppies.. Today I am noticing more and more their characters develop.. I see one craving attention.. another very aloof .. another a investigator.. another likes to hide and climb.. another likes to hang back and watch the goings on..

.. Its certainly an experience I won't soon forget.. puppies have a smell like babies do.. very distinct I find.. They have funny facial expressions.. that can melt your heart.. I find I can't wait to get up in the morning to see their faces and hear them try barking and howling for the first time..

.. I trimmed their nails as they were scratching my wrists terribly.. as well they will get used to the clipping.. which will be great once they are adopted.. it seems allot of owners find that whole ordeal allot to deal with.. I hope to have this gang a joy for any new owners.. Fingers crossed at least.. I know its not going to be a piece of cake..

Pups discovered toys

.. I thought I'd introduce them to something other than my fingers and toes to chew.. I had some basset toys.. and here is a result..





These gang are so funny.. I cannot believe that I have them .. its a pleasure to have been blessed at my rescue.. They seem to be growing daily with their gruel and goats milk.. Stay tuned..

Rescued Puppies

.. These sweet little bassets were rejected by their Mom and at 3 weeks have ended up at my rescue.. I never thought for a moment I would ever have this happen but I guess I should never question the Universe.. I'm just glad that the owner called me.. as they might have ended up curbside..

... They are quite a hoot I am finding out.. as well a challenge to keep up with.. between feeding them gruel and goats milk every 4 hours .. then the poop haha.. Alas I feel blessed to have these tiny spirits Gracing my home..

.. My other rescue Cheri has taken quite a shine to the pups.. as you see she has them challenging her and loves every minute.. Yes its a happy time here..

Ashton's Human Foster Dad Died

.. I received news that Ashton's my permanent foster placement has had his foster Dad die.. leaving him with his foster Mom.. and Ginger ( the basset ) I think he will mourn this passing for a while as his Dad was the main one to walk him ectra.. It just goes to show you how easily circumstances change..

.. I hope that this doesn't mean Ashton will be shuffled.. I guess I'll wait and see.. These folks have/had been very good permanent foster's for him.. fingers crossed he remains with the Mom and Ginger his pal..
