Oliver Twist 's New Mission

.. Oliver Twist went to his new Forever Home.. its with a lovely couple who loved him before even meeting him.. in their case a picture spoke volumes to their heart.. Their basset had passed away and left a gap in their lives.. till they saw Oliver.. After undergoing cancer treatments and in recovery.. Oliver's new Dad will not be alone any more while he battles this dreaded disease.. There was a twinkle in his eye when he saw Oliver come in as well Oliver seemed immediately to know this man was going to love him for all he is worth.. He smiled even though I knew or sensed he felt lousy from the treatments.. but Oliver went over put his paws on his lap and.. Well You look..

My Fancy Gurl HaHa

.. This is Micky Mouse.. she came from a Montreal rescue called Sophie's.. I was shocked when I went to get her.. I hadn't seen her when I told Sophie.. I'd take her or any basset you get.. at that time I didn't have my BHRQ running I was only helping then.. She is such a good little girl.. I say little because she is an Normand Artesian Basset .. most folks don't know that there are a few types of bassets.. their are the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen too that have curly coarse hair.. None the less bassets.. but different characters..I'm glad I didn't care what Micky was I just saw her as another basset needing rescuing.. Isn't she a Lady..

and I really agree with this.. Please RESCUE a Dog.. Cat.. Pet of ANY kind.. Leave Pet shops sell food & accessories ONLY .. Every animal has a rescue site.. Explore.. Find the one You want.. Do your homework PLEASE

I Hope The Universe Hears Me..

.. I recently asked to join a group .. called CBDR.. little did I realize how eye opening and heart breaking this was going to be.. It is a group like myself that rescues dogs.. but they rescue dogs in general.. not necessarily specific breeds.. They try to find specific dog breed rescues so they can try to help as many find those elusive " Forever Homes " every dog needs.. The benefit for them is they then know that there is someone to help.. that specific breed..

.. C.B.D.R. stands for Cross Boarder Dog Rescue.. Its Canadians helping out American pounds and shelters that presently are being overwhelmed with dogs due to the slump in their economy.. Dogs of every kind are being dumped and abandoned wholesale.. the staff at these pounds are beside themselves as they feel like they are just killing machines.. yet the breeders just keep pumping out dogs for the mighty dollar instead of backing off a little.. but its a commodity to some..

.. Now .. why my title says.. " I hope the Universe is Listening " well just today I was sent a myriad of emails from the CBDR.. with several basset that here earmarked to die within 24-48 hours if they could not be pulled from various shelters in the USA.. With every email I opened I was shocked with the numbers of innocent dogs.. bassets included.. in need.. My heart was sinking.. How can all this be.. No I am not naive.. I know the same nonsense goes on in some shelters here sadly.. but I'm not privy to those.. These were names and faces I saw.. pups to senior dogs.. being gassed often as that seems to be the choice down there.. Less expensive I guess.. I don't know.. but one thing I do know that if I had more than my house to work out of like a facility.. less bassets would be in those kill shelters and would have the " Forever Homes " that they deserve.. as I know if the Universe steps in.. ALL things are possible.. for within this world lies an ABUNDANCE like no other..

So Universe if Your listening.. I'm asking.. Help me to get a Sanctuary going where I can do what needs doing and rescue more cases of neglect and abuse ..

Only 6 weeks old.. Dam Pet Shops

.. I am so fed up of pet shops selling puppies.. Yesterdays rescue was bought at 6 weeks old.. can you imagine.. bassets are supposed to remain with their Mom's for 12 weeks minimum.. so they are well developed and have better health and outlook on life.. but NO.. between the Back Yard Breeders and the lousy pet shops this keeps going on.. This pup was bought in Thetford Mines Quebec at a pet shop.. only 6 weeks old.. She is cute but on the thin side right now but I'll work on that.. some separation anxiety.. now thats expected .. But it just burns me up her formative beginnings were robbed.. Its a shame.. for both parties.. but thats what BUSINESS is all about.. MONEY.. and breeding dogs is about MONEY.. EASY MONEY.. earning off the backs of dogs.. I wish some people would just " GET A LIFE " of their own..

.. This little girl will have what she needs.. sterilizing included with her vaccinations.. Yes a better healthier day will be hers.

Friday Night Blues

.. Wow its been an odd day of up and down emotions.. I'm getting things done around here with some of the dogs placed I have time to look after house stuff that I had put off.. I ripped up the carpet in the living room.. Far too many piddles on it lately that even the steam cleaner couldn't fix.. So its going to have an easy clean floating PVC flooring.. but thats not it..

I had to dismantle the living room.. which meant moving out book cases ectra.. well I turned looked straight ahead and there it was.. a small wine colored silk bag with a ribbon on it.. It was Billy The Kid's ashes.. I had put them beside an angel I received from a friend for my birthday last year.. As I wasn't quite ready to deal with his passing.. Here their is always so much going on that I don't get much quiet time persay to think about matters of the heart like these... but today was different.. I looked at the shelf.. shook my head.. yup a tear down my cheek..



This boy I only had received a short time ago in rescue that had traveled all the way from Alberta.. had succumbed to cancer.. Robbed of a chance of a better life.. I just had had a request about him for adoption.. Yes my mind has been all over the board today.. remembering that puppy Sherlock that won my heart so deeply.. even with the stains on the floor and other odds and sods..

.. However I know I have to decide what to do with Billy's ashes.. and I will.. I love to start trees from seeds and I experiment with hard to grow ones.. I received two southern black walnut tree seeds 2 years back from an online friend who said " Give them a try ".. I planted them with TLC.. in hope of them growing and the squirrels not getting them.. Well two of them have grown..


I think one will be moved and named/grown for Billy and I'll place his ashes with the tree.. hence his life will go on in a different form.. Oh I do ramble on at times.. I'll stop.. Go make a tea.. and walk the dogs.. its almost 10pm.

Yet Another Victim

.. This poor girl is another victim scandalous conditions of a NON caring owner.. looking to MAKE MONEY..


See the flies all over her and the pups.. the dirty conditions they are in.. Yet this person ( I say this loosely ) will charge $250. a pup.. How healthy.. well thats another story.. coming out of that.. How VERY sad..

We are going to TRY to rescue her out of these conditions.. She deserves better.. than to be a working breeder to someone who hasn't a clue.. keeping a Mom and puppies like that.. SHAME on them..
